About this basket
A large oval willow trug, 52 cm long, woven over a solid willow base with low flaring sides and a single arched handle. The rim is finished in a deep plaited brown with a fine pale band lower down. Handwoven in our family workshop in Lithuania.
Good for
Market shopping and garden harvest — apples, tomatoes, cut flowers or a basketful of mushrooms; indoors it settles just as easily as a fireside kindling basket, a fruit bowl, or a magazine basket.
Why it lasts
The twisted handle is bound into the sides with woven collars, so it carries a full load without working loose.
